I bent prop, shaft & strut in an accident yesterday. I have been able to succefully remove all of the damaged parts except for removing the shaft from the flange that is bolted to the tranny. Any help would be appreciated..... Also any thoughts on reman parts...yes or no....

RE: 91 sn direct drive shaft removal
There are a couple ways of removing the coupling half off the shaft. It can be frustrating as the coupling bore to the shaft is a interference fit meaning it is tight! There are pullers made to get into the rather tight area when the coupling halves are separated but most will use the "deep socket with long bolts trick". Ether find a deep socket just under the diameter of the shaft or a round spacer about 3" long. Place the socket or spacer between the coupling halves against the prop shaft. Put threaded rods (about 5" long) with nuts on the ends where the bolts were holding the two coupling halves together. Now start tightening the nuts alternating tightening each threaded rod pulling the halves together. The spacer (or deep socket) will now push the prop shaft out of the coupling.
Getting the new coupling onto the new shaft is a heat shrink fit (interference). The coupling needs to be heated ether in your oven or very carefully with a torch. This will expand the coupling just enough so it will go on the prop shaft. This fit is extremely important!! If you buy a new shaft, I highly recommend you get a coupling half at the same time and let them fit the bore of the coupling to the shaft.
Struts can be straightened by a prop shop but if the shaft is bent I'd recommend a new one.
