Diameter of Pylon on 1986 Nautique 2001

I'm trying to purchase a pylon clamp for a boom for my 1986 Ski Nautique 2001. The closest I can measure the diameter to is 2-1/2". According to the manufacturer of the clamp (Skylon Sports), the sizes they have available area 2.48”, 2.52” & 2.56” (i.e. more accurate than I can measure). Does anyone know what the diameter of the standard boom on a 1986 nautique is? It is the one with the ring and the finger. Thanks.

Your pylon is 2.5", the ECI clamp is adjustable so I'm not even sure where you're pulling those numbers from.

Thanks for the reply. The numbers came straight from Paul Ceballos guy at Skylon. The following is the text from an email I received from him after I sent him a PDF file with an existing clamp I was trying to match (I've also attached the PDF file) :

      Bill,

That does not look like our clamp.

Our boom clamps come in 3 different sizes:

      2.48”

      2.52”

      2.56”

Verify that your boom in manufactured by Skylon. If it is, also verify your pylon diameter with the boat manufacturer.

Ok, but what exactly do those sizes mean? Maybe he's not talking about pylon diameter...

I bought a Skylon boom several years ago and got it with an adjustable pylon mount that fits my 87. I was more concerned that the boom had only one cable going to the bow when all others I see use two. This one even had provision for a second cable but it was a slight chore to install at home.

I was told that the 2.48”, 2.52” & 2.56” dimensions are for the "inner bore" of the pylon clamp.

Clarification - the dimensions are for the DIAMETER of the "inner bore" of the pylon clamp.

So then go with the 2.48", the other two will be loose.

If your boom is supposed to have 2 cables you better be using 2. The Bemman's are designed with one cable but it is larger (stronger).
