    Engine Bogging at Wakeboard speeds

Looking for a little Help or suggestions. Engine is hesitating, bogging on occasion at wakeboard speed, last night seem. Also seems to be running a little bit rougher at idle.

I’m sort of lost on this one. The engine had been doing this before which I had attributed to the Fuel Filter. My bad, I hadn’t changed it in about 3 years. So I changed the fuel filter about 3- 4 weeks ago. The day after I changed the FF I ran it (a couple sets) and it ran great started good, strong sound from engine with no misses or hesitation. Went on vacation ran it the next weekend so it sat for 2 weeks. Ran good but seemed a little rougher at times. Then last night it happened again. Can tell it was running rougher at Idle, then on the second persons set at wakeboard speeds started to do the bogging starving for fuel thing again.

Early this season I changed my plugs, put new wires on it and changed the rotor and cap. Although I really don’t think this has anything to do with it. It really seems that there is a fuel delivery problem causing the hesitation. Almost like I need to over throttle to get the fuel to the system.

Oh ya it is a 2001 SAN with the 502.

Thanks in Advance for the Help

What kind of gas are you using, does it contain ethanol?
How 'bout a little reverse action...

Mainly midgrade shell gas. The first time this really happened I had put in some mom and pop gas and stopped that right away. Put in some sea foam and I thought I cleaned it up. But since then I has always been Shell gas 89 octane. Which I'm sure has up to 10% ethanol but so does the gas at the marina I launch at.

      Thanks,

Having a similar problem with a new SAN 230 2008 with 6.0 engine. Dealer thought it was the throttle module getting wet. We had that changed, took it out today and after a couple of hours it started bogging down. It completely will go from 25 mph back to idle. It sounds like it is either getting to much fuel or not enough???
Does this sound like fuel, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel injection ??? We only have less than 30 hours on the boat. Need some advise. We are also putting 89 octane in the boat.

        Thanks
