    2005 196 rudder assembly

    Pulled our club 196 for it's Labor Day clean up. Removed the floor in the back locker and somebody noticed that the backing plate for the rudder assembly is cracked in 3 places (see photo). There is a piece on the opposite side of the hull that looks perfect. Never hit anything or had any work done on the rudder, shaft or prop.
    I have an 05 as well but it has the trick tank which makes observation difficult so I can't compare directly.
    Is this normal?
    Anybody ever seen it before?

    that should be covered under the five year warranty. I would be getting it fixed ASAP

      I'm talking to the dealer tomorrow and I expect they will take care of it, just wondering if anyone has ever seen it happen before. I suspect that this may have been this way right from the factory, all i can figure is that somebody got a little overzealous during the installation. Minus an impact to the rudder, I don't see how or why this plate would crack in three places.
