Help! Have trailer brakes locked up.....

Well we had the trailer brake safety chain hooked up to my truck as we did some towing. Everything was unhooked except the small steel cable and S hook to my trailering frame.

I drove away and feel a jerk-pop and then see in my rear view mirror the boat is rocking/moving.

It totally pulled the emergency brake lever all the way forward and engaged the brakes into a full lock position.

We hooked the truck back up to see the extent of the situation. the truck will BACK UP with no brakes just fine but you cannot pull it forward as the brakes are in full lockup and the emergency tab/lever is lifted up.

The trailer is a standard 2003 Ramlin wishbone trailer with brakes for a 2003 196.

We are headed out there this evening to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue however possible. We can't ski as the boat is stuck on the trailer! Any tricks to get it to "unlock" or something? there has to be a reasonable way to resovle this??

    Hey buddy,
Never fear... You can release the Emergency brakes, usually with the release lever. There should be a small lever, OR probably on the bottom by the ball coupler there's a lever you can push up from the bottom. If you can't find it call Ramlin and they can tell you where it is located by the serial number. The trailer certainly isn't disposable. There's an actuator in there that's locked them up and you need to un-actuate it, if that makes any sense.
