converting 210 super sport to 210 air nautique

I have recently purchased a 2004 210 super sport nautique limited, didn't think the that changing the weighting of the boat was going to be to a daily activity but with all the wake surfing we are doing its becoming almost an hourly event on weekends.

has their been any previous post on someone installing automatic ballas tanks? is the boat set up for it ie thru holes? am i only missing tanks hoses and pumps? i know the buttons on the dash are there, but is anything else? is it even practical think of such a thing, is this something one could on their own or better a dealer and how much ball park am i looking at spending to under take such a project.

any ideas? look forward to hearing from you

RE: converting 210 super sport to 210 air nautique

Not to de-rail this thread....but, I've never heard of a "210 super sport". I thought that all 210's were basically an "Air"??? Does this mean that it simply doesn't have ballast? Or am I simply just not that smart?

A 210 Super Air (Pre 07) and a 210 Super Sport are the exact same boat minus all of the wakeboarding extras that come standard on the Super Air, however most Super Sports still have the wakeboard tower put on them anyway. As far as the ballast goes I believe that came with the team edition package back then. I'm sure the mold for the two boats is exactly the same, so yes, all you should have to do is install tanks, pumps, hoses, and some switches. There is also probably a spot for you to install some tank gauges as well that are unused.

I am going to install the factory style ballast system on my 98 using all the factory fittings. I just had my dealer order me three thru hull fittings. The new boats do not use a scoop type and have built in screens. I wanted to use this style because it will not force water into the pumps while under way. If you do your homework you can find the parts for a reasonable price. I have chosen not to do hard tanks because they just dont offer enough weight for me and my crew. I also like the fact that I have storage in the boat when they are empty. This is my winter project so I will be posting a thread as I start to progress. I probably won't start for another month or two. We ride till december here.

thanks for the replies, to answer your question bchesly I am fairly mechanical i.e. change my own brake pads, oil, comfortable with small engines but never done anything electrical or boat related. my main concern would damaging the hull with installing the thru hulls but maybe that is something i could get the dealership to do and then work through the rest when you start to document your project.

you mention using soft sacs? i didn't realize that would be a possibility i currently own 2 540 launch pads do you think they would work for this project? and what are your thoughts on a belly ballast? it seems like a tight compartment for any soft sac i've seen on the market. Anways look forward to seeing your work this winter. keep me posted if you could with the total parts costs, if you could

also IFFISH is correct the super sport 210 is the same as the air nautique 210 pre 2008. same hull design, power options, same tower, just less options no standard ballast system. re sales a bit cheaper then air nautique, just a bit more timely when adjusting the weighting

Soft bags are how over half of the other manufacturers have ballast. The best soft bags to use are the Fly High because they have the best hose connectors. I am using a pair of v-drive bags that weigh 400lbs each and then a special gravity games bag that weighs 1000lbs in the center ski locker. It is 19x19x88 and will basically fill the whole locker. I might add some lead to fine tune to my liking but that should be plenty of weight at the flip of a switch. I am still collecting part right now. I have a list of what I will be using that I can post tomorrow when I get to the office.

Take a look at Wake_Fun's galleries. There's a lot of useful stuff on there and it all seems very buttoned up. Might be a good one to look at. I believe he did his on a '95 super sport, but should be the same ideas. Hope that helps.
