    Opinions on Fresh Air Exhaust

Has anyone used this system before? I get a little exhaust fumes when surfing and thought this might help.

RE: Opinions on Fresh Air Exhaust

    Hitchn' on this ride.......
    Got some questions..
I've been wakesurfin for the last few years and once in a while we get a good woft of fumes but nothing that lasts or persists for any length of time....still....I'm really considering th FAE for longterm safety of my family (and friends too).
I am curious if anyone who has had it installed for a long time can pipe up here....
Is steering effected at all??? forward or reverse?
    What about top speed?
What's CC/PCM stance on the FAE with regards to warranty?

RE: Opinions on Fresh Air Exhaust

I've had one on my Air 216 since the spring. There are no ill effects from the FAE. The only thing I have noticed is a little rooster tail. I may have lost 1 or 2mph but I never open my boat up all the way.

I've run my this entire season on my '02 Super Air with no regrets. Best accessory I've ever added. Maybe lost 1 or 2mph top end, but we only board and surf so not much issue for me. The noise level is substantially lower, I can carry on a conversation with someone surfing from the drivers seat. Hasn't affected steering, wake, or hole shot. A little rooster tail at high speed.

I put one on this spring also and couldn't be happier. Ditto what everyone else says, lost a couple of mph plus a little rooster tail at high speeds - but no exhaust smell at all. I used to get a headache when we surfed for a long time especially with the bimini up, now I don't notice the exhaust even after an hour of surfing. One day I tried it both with and without the FAE installed, trying it back to back I noticed a huge difference in the amount of exhaust smell.

I put one of these on our '99 Pro Air Python, which has dual exhaust. The FAE has made a huge difference in the noise of our boat, and when surfing it's easy to speak to the surfer. We can actually hear the stereo when cruising in our boat ~3000 rpm now.
FWIW, our boat is dual exhaust, and had no baffling whatsover, so the sound reduction is probably much more noticeable on our boat/engine combo.
I did notice a reduction in top end, and I've been working with Larry on a small issue with my down pipe rotating at higher speeds. It won't do it unless I open it up all the way, but I like doing that sometimes... 8-)
I also notice that sometimes the boat doesn't like to start after shutting down from a riding session, and the riders are switching out. I need to open the throttle slightly to get it to start. It never did this prior to the FAE, and Larry thinks it may be my starter going, but I didn't have the problem before. Overall, we are very happy with the FAE and would get one again.

Is any drilling required to install on 06 206?

I sent an email one time to FAE ....never heard back from them.

                    There shouldn't be any required.

I have had it on for about 65 hours and like the quiet now. I had a comment from a neighbor that he could only hear the water splashing off my 220 while we were riding on the lake. He said he had never heard such a quiet boat.

I had to think on the FAE for the Python for a while, but, with a young 'un, and the fact that we've been surfing more (great way to show kids how fun it is to ride), I've been happy with the trade off. I do miss the exhaust rumble, and one of my neighbors misses it too, but overall, a great option for us.

Thanks Larry. I'm distracted a bit by Hurricane Ike recovery but will consider an FAE over the winter. Sure would be nice to have. I need to reduce CO but didn't want to reduce the noise. Now, after a season and a half I'm thinking I've heard enough engine noise. At first, that hum was music to my ears. Now, I'd rather just hear the music.

Even though the "roar" of the engine is diminished, the power and performance is still felt.

Installation is straight forward. The product is nice. It has a lot of benefits will only a small drawback (2-3 mph drop in top speed). Noise reduction is great.
