    water puppy switch wiring

i am putting a ballast system in my 2001 san and wasnt sure how the which wires went to what. There is Black, Red, Yellow, and Orange. I am pretty sure that the orange goes to the pump and the red is positive from the battery. But do i send the black to the pump, or the yellow? if i send the black to the pump does that does that mean the yellow is ground from the battery?

    RE: water puppy switch wiring

Did you not get switches that are prewired? All the ones that I have seen come with a setup harness.

You can wire ballast puppies with relays and without.

Without you will need switches rated at 10 or 20 amps, they will need to be DPDT (double pole double throw), there will be 6 or more terminals on the back. Positive and negative from the power supply go to the center terminals, positive and negative from the pump go to the bottom of the switch, jumpers from bottom left to top right and bottom right to top left. The other terminals on the switch are for the indicator lights.

With relays you will need a two cube relays for each pump and a SPDT (single pole double throw) switch. If your switch only has four wires you also need the relays.

There are plusses and minuses for each system. I tend to prefer to avoid the relays if I am starting from scratch, just for simplicity.

I also suggest a wiring diagram. Guessing at the wire colors isn't the best way to go.
