    Prop Cavation / Ventilation

I purchased this spring a 1989 21' Ski Supreme Sierria Supreme open bow ski boat with a 351 PCM 240 hp. Yea I know it is not a Nautique but I could not get a Sport Nautique. Problem is when I hit the throttle wide open from a dead stop it takes of like a rocket and when the four barrels open @ 3400 rpm the prop cavatates. If I'm @ 3000 rpm and open it up it does not do it. I don't think the trans is slipping beacuse I have had 5 kids + 4 adults towing a tube @ 2200 rpm 18 mph. The load on the drive line has huge and no slipping. The prop on the boat now is a OJ 4legend 13x13 4 blade. I'm going to try my spair Federal 13 x13 3 blade cup (stock prop). You guys know a lot more about this stuff. Let me know what you think.

    RE: Prop Cavation / Ventilation

Try the cupped propeller. It could help.
One of the intangibles you get with a Correct Craft boat is hull design. Hull design has also improved on all brands since 1989.
A friend of mine recently bought a late nineties "M" brand boat. Try to drive it in a straight line with a single slalom skier, it wanders all over the place. Try to do an around the boat with three skiers, it will not turn.
Might I gently suggest that with Fall rapidly approaching, you might be able to get a good deal on a newer ski boat, maybe even one with a propeller that turns clockwise.

I tried the 13 x13 cup prop. It did not work well. It turned my inboard into a jet boat. The rooster tail @ 25 mph was almost hitting the swim platform. I think the prop is a super cup. It still had the cavation problem. I’m trying to contact people with the same hull for advice on prop. I would like to hear from early Sport Nautique owners with the 1:1 trans for advice.
PS I like my LH rotation prop, pulls me right to the dock when in reverse.
