Beep noise on PP too quiet

The beep on the pp that signifies that it has engaged has gotten very quiet. At first, I put it down to old ears and too much "hair band" music in my youth, but my teenager confirmed that it is nowhere near as loud as when the unit was new. I can barely hear this thing now. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a diy fix of some kind?

Boy I just thought that it was me ( grey hair, can't see, or hear ) but I guess that it isn't all my old age. hope we find out a easy and cheap fix.
