My remote filter leaks and seems to be causing erratic oil pressure readings. I replaced the filter and made sure that the old o-ring was removed (I have heard the stories of people not removing the old o-ring and doubling up, casuing leaks) so I am sure it is a good install. But even the new filter leaks. Anyone had this problem?

RE: Oil Leak at Remote Filter on 03 PCM 5.7
I had the same problem with my remote filter. The oil was leaking and pooling in the rim on top of the filter. After trying everything else; replacing the filter, tightening the oil lines, putting thread sealant on the oil line fittings, they ended up replacing the filter mount and both of the oil lines.

Check that the o-ring is tightening up on the carrier mating surface and that it's not the inner metal portion of the filter binding up on the filter carrier itself. Usually when you screw on the filter it will get gradually more difficult to turn as the o-ring compresses but if the filter turns and the locks up suddenly this might indicate that it's not the o-ring sealing but rather metal on metal.

RE: Oil Leak at Remote Filter on 03 PCM 5.7
I have heard of this problem several times. There is an issue with the painting of the remote filter mounts. Remove the filter, then clean the mating surface where the seal meets the filter mount. Check to see if there is black paint on the mating surface. If so, carefully remove that paint using a razor blade. Be careful not to gouge the surface. You want to make the surface as flat as possible. This has solved the issue for several people that I know.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. All,
Check, there was a technical bulliten (you know, not quite a recall) on this for the '04s. I had to take mine back for a inspection, which I actually did myself. Wish I could find it. Jeff do you have it (I know Correct Craft hates when we post these)?
