    Temp Gauge Stopped Working

When I fired up my boat this weekend my engine temp gauge was not working at all, no movement. I checked the fuses and even gave the gauge a few "love" taps...nothing. It worked fine two weeks ago.

My boat is a 2006 SAN SE with the Faria analog gauges.

    What else should I check?

    Thanks.

Check the wires to the back of the gauge and follow them to their home. You probably have a wire loose if everything else is working properly. Otherwise it might be the sender.

Thanks Travis. Looks like I am going to have to pull the dash.

see if u have 12v on the purple wire on the gauge first

then find the sensor and remove the wire
ground that out, it will read high temp with key on
if not, check grounds first before replacing the gauge

I second pulling the dash and checking wires. It has happened on my temp and oil gauges this summer.

Thanks Seth. Was it just a loose wire?

Pulled the dash and checked all the wires. Everything looked OK.

When I turn the ignition key to On the gauge gives a little bump and then settles back down with no reading.

              Any suggestions???

              Thanks.

Gauge has the 12v purple wire. Where is the sensor located?

                Thank you.

                    BP,
In this thread on heater installing, there's a picture of the typical temp. sender.

You will probably have two wires running to the sender. When you ground out the wire to check the gauge, make sure its the one that runs to the gauge and not the one to the ECM.
