    Carpet cleaning

    I have a 2001 Pro Air Nautique. Obviously my carpet does not come out. I require some advice for cleaning (and deodorizing - if possible) the carpet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    RE: Carpet cleaning

    Use a pressure washer on it. First, get it wet. Then soap it down with a solution of Simple Green, and water. Rinse that out, by now, you should see a lot of dirt start to come out of the carpet. Then rinse it down with your favorite smell of fabric softener, and then rinse it again with water.
    You can lay towels down on the wet carpet, it will help soak up the water. Use towels that have not had fabric softner on them, that soak up water faster.
    This is not my Idea, someone else posted the fabric softner, and Simple Green idea on this board a while back.

      Careful...simple green can stain if not diluted well.

      Above sounds good, then put it out in the hot sun. That should cure the smell.

        Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for all of the great info. The diluted soap worked well. Geez was my carpet dirty. Will be doing it again in the spring.

        Cheers;

          I use a carpet cleaner on mine. One of the smaller ones with the tank and a hand held nozzel.

            Does anyone reapply a sun/fabric protector like 303 fabric after a good cleaning? Success?

              I use Tide (no bleach) and a little warm water. Work it in with a brush. Pressure wash it into the bilge. Wet vac afterwards. On advice of my dealer, well-diluted Downey in a spray bottle to fluff up the carpet nap (still working on dilution level that yields best results, but it smells pretty good).

                I would be careful with Simple Green. Even diluted it might damage your vinyl, and if you are using a pressure washer, you are sure to get spray on your vinyl..
