Windshield Gap - Creative Solution needed

I have a 2007 216 with a weird little issue related to my windshield. Where the windshield meets the boat, there is a small gap. Almost not noticible...but it's there on both sides of the boat. Here is the issue....

When you are wiping down the boat, you can catch your finger in the gap and it's fairly sharp, so we've had some bandaid needs. Also, on the Starboard side, I use a boom a lot...so when I lean out, I tend to catch the armpit of my t-shirt and it ends up ripping.

I just got the boat this past spring. And, I have been working with my dealer over the summer to try to come up with a solution. But, we haven't had any success. So, I thought I would send this request out to the very creative folks on this site to see if anyone might have some suggestions.

I was thinking that soime type of rubber gasket (trimmed to fit) might work. But, I am not sure. Would probably need some type of glue to hold it, but it needs to look halfway decent.

Thoughts?

Have you tried the obvious solution of tightening the bolts holding the windshield on? How about some black double sided tape to fit in the gap? The windshield would probably have to be loosened to get it in there.

Two possible suggestions: A clear caulk to fill in the gap, or sandpaper/grind the sharp edge to put a chamfer on it. I personally would probably go with the second, especially if the dealer is willing to do it.

the dealer tried to adjust that trim and tighten it down. no luck there.

was thinking about trimming the sharp edge down...but the finish of that trim would be damaged. And, I am not sure if we could get it covered easily.....or match the current finish?

Some clear caulk was also an idea that I had....I think it's at the top of my list so far. I was thinking some simple silicon based caulk would work. Even if I had to replace it every year, so what....

To carry it to the extreme, have they replaced the windshield? Either the windshield isn't made right or the mounting holes in the boat are off.

The windshield weather stripping is supposed to carry out underneath that edge and be trimmed off cleanly. You have the gap because the weatherstripping was cut off too short. JMO

Thinking along the same lines as Madhat, either way hopefully your dealer will get it handled.
Had some issues with the Windshield on my 206 and my dealer handled it perfectly.

Agree. Here is the best picture I could find, but the weather-stripping goes all the way to the end of the trim. I have no issues with it.

I took off my windsheild last winter (06/07) and had the frame powdercoated, had to re-assemble and reinstall back onto the hull. It's NOT easy! I would say from looking at your pics, that the angle of the windsheild header was not cut correctly, therefore not sitting flush with the hull. The gasket that CC uses between the windsheild frame and the hull is thin, probably only about 1/16" thick, and it compresses to almost flat when the windsheild is screwed onto the hull.

Trust me, make the dealer fix it. You've bought a new boat, it should not have been delivered that way. If you start messing with this, you might break the windshield glass, and that WILL be expensive!

Sounds like most likely the weather stripping isn't the correct size. I guess I hadn't actually thought along that line.

I too agree with letting the dealer handle it. As a result of your post I have checked mine out and looked at an 09 210 at the dealer today. Both have the seal under the windshield going all the way to the end. I'd say it's obviously a manufacturing defect. Let them handle it.
