Bilge Water

How much water should be in the bilge when you haul the boat and let the water drain out of the stern plug when the boat is on the ramp. I have a 2000 SAN and just had the prop, strut and shaft replaced and before the boat was fairly dry. Now water runs out of the stern plug whole for about 30 to 60 seconds at a steady stream.

Mine is usually bone dry.

You should have the shop check out the boat on the water.

It sounds like the packing nuts need to be tightened more

Definitely tighten the prop shaft packing or replace it. If that doesn't solve it, it may be a hull-penetrating screw that backed out.

I had a good amount of water entering the bilge of my 94 ski OB, and replacing the shaft packing didn't help. With the help of friends I finally tracked the leak down to the stern plastic covers just beneath the ski deck. One of the screws that hold those on had backed out. A 15 cent fix later and my friends finally stopped calling her the titanic.
