Dan - good analogy. Make your y-fitting work like an on-ramp for the correct installation. It's unclear to me from the picture which direction the water is going, you might just have it right.

Yeah, that is how mine is setup - like the MC diagram. As TRBenj said, I have my Y-fitting installed BEFORE the strainer on the raw water intake line (so the Y-fitting in my picture is IN BETWEEN the thru-hull and the strainer) and the heatercore return line is returning the water just as in a on-ramp on the highway.

Again I will say: Your location is correct: Your fitting is in backwards. You are forcing the return water against the flow and not with the flow.

A Ha; Now I get it. If the Y fitting is mounted between the thru hull fitting and the water strainer, this is correct. If the Y fitting is mounted after the strainer, it is not correct. If I misread the picture, I my deepest apology goes out to Sinkoumn.

Aha, no worries! I knew my crappy picture made it look different.

I just wanted to make sure I did in fact have it right.

I installed it before the strainer just because it was easier to get at with the saw - and FYI for anyone adding a Y adaptor to that line, it has a metal reinforcement in it which is pretty tough to cut by hand, but CAN be done!

The return line from the heater is supposed to go through the restricted horn of the adapter before the raw water pump - work's by way of Bernoulli's principle.

Note: Bernoulli's principle is not really important here or playing a role in either the fluid mechanics or the heat transfer.

Maybe you should have spent more time reading the picture caption, or even the many posts telling you where he had the fitting installed instead of repeatedly telling him he was wrong. Apologize to Jeff and Luke for the spamming too.

Hope someone can help me. I am looking for the wires to run the fan on the heater I just purchased. I have a 2001 SAN which is wired for a heater (or at least the pod is) but I can't find the connections under the dash. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine were tucked up in a group of wires zip tied under the dash. I cut the zip ties and found the wires needed.

I believe they are the same color that came in the heater kit, red, orange, yellow, and black.
