Doing a motor alignment in a direct drive. Trying to find a wrench to fit the rear vertical adjustment nuts. They appear to be 1.5 in. nuts with no space to place a wrench. Do I need a special proprietary wrench? Thanks.

RE: Alignment
It is a very tight area and even with a thin open end or a 12 point box it can be a PITA!!
Get some penetrating oil on the nut and a bottle jack under the exhaust manifold. Use the jack for your height adjusting taking the load off the nut making it easier to turn - even by hand!

RE: Alignment
I've found that crow's foot wrenches will (sort of) fit in there, but yeah penetrating oil, and taking the weight off makes it much easier. How 'bout a little reverse action...

RE: Alignment
H20, if you mean the lock nuts on the rear mounts, use a metal punch and a hammer to loosen and tighten them. It's really the only way you can do it. Once those are free, the adjustments are actually made using the square top of the vertical threaded rod in the mount.

Most of the time I had to loosen the lock nuts of the rear motor mounts, I was able to get them to break loose by just turning the square on the top of the adjusting bolt counterclockwise. The locknut turns with the bolt, and within about 45 degrees of rotation, the locknut is free, and can be turned further up the adjusting bolt by hand. To lock it again when you are done, turn the locknut down by hand, until it contacts the motor mount, and turn the adjusting bolt clockwise and it jams, or locks the locknut. Use a 7/16, square (8 point) socket on the top of the adjusting bolt.
