RE: hole through hull
thanks. it just freaked me out. i'm taking it up to the morons in the morning and showing them how amateur installers they are and tell them they are paying for every penny of the repair and 4 hour round trip ride towing it to the shop. and that's just dropping it off, not picking it up. is it going to be expensive to get a new sticker and painted?

RE: Re: RE: hole through hull
that was when i had a mastercraft aka disastercraft. i have a beautiful system in my boat right now. and i only let these guys do it b/c all they had to do was swap an existing amp already wired and same w/ speakers. the only reason i did not do it myself is b/c i have never mounted an amp and didnt want to do exactly what they did. thanks crowland, you made me feel a little better about the situation. at least gas is down to 2.50 for 87. but im makin them pay for my gas. of all the times i've been hosed by morons this time im not letting it slide. they messed up my baby

RE: Re: RE: hole through hull
300,
If it makes the situation any better, all I can say is at least the hole is under the graphics so you can cover up the patch. It will be easy since a gel color match isn't needed.
Also it's centainly not as bad as the guy over on "the" site that posted his problem a couple years ago. He didn't like the water filling up his battery box and wanted to drain it into the bilge. Yup, he drilled a hole in the "bottom" of the battery box and then heard water running out onto the garage floor!!! I don't even think I would even have posted a mistake like that!!!

RE: Re: RE: hole through hull
just a little update to fix the 3 holes was only 340$ and a new sticker was just under 78$. i dont have to pay for it but it was my first fiberglass fix and im glad it wasnt astronimically priced.

RE: Re: RE: hole through hull
so the **** who drilled the holes are backing out even though less than a week ago they said the estimate was fine. it came to 369.75 to fix 3 holes in the mid ship hull around the graphic.the hole drillers were supposed to pay for 2 of 3 holes b/c they wouldnt admit they did the other hole, however the gel coat guy fixed the 3rd hole b/c it was within 12" of the two. do you think the price would have been drastically different if he only fixed two holes? i even told them i'd foot the price of the graphic. just stand by your word and fix what you broke. if they dont get settled by end of business today it's better business bureau and after that civil court for a new boat! i hate adults who act like 5 year olds.

it is never anyones fault. That sucks. This is a classic case of make it hard on you, and eventually you will leave it alone kind of thing. Good for you that you arent going to back down.

RE: Re: RE: hole through hull
i came up with a new argument. it's nice and simple. before my boat touched your property it didn't have holes in it. when you got finished it did. and i ended up paying like 200$ when they did the work so they are only losing 169.75. im going to make a picket sign and fliers detailing my experience with them and hand them out to customers soon.

you've got to love it. my mom went up there b/c my family's car dealer used do alot of business with them and and the manager of the shop(who i thought i was dealing with) called me and appolagized and everything's gravy. im not even a kid. i'm 24, but some people just think they can get over on the younger generation. its saddening really. i wish i could just say forget about it and let me have a 1 on 1 fist fight with the guy who acted like a prick, or go drill 3 holes in his roof.

At least it got worked out. Sucks when someone doesn't fess up to their mistakes, eh? Sucks you had to go through the whole rigamoroll to get what was right accomplished, plus the headache of dealing with the whole thing, and worrying about the boat. Bush League.Travis Fling

RE: Re: RE: hole through hull
absolutely. i dogged them and told t hem their rep. would not hold up w/ anyone and that they are grown men acting like children and that when you shake on something in alabama its a binding agreement. from now on notarize everything in writing. i should have a check in a couple days. i want to move to texas for a few months and apprentice at ear mark marine so i can do it all myself.
