    v drive drains

i need a bit of help here as i can't find the manual online for winterizing the v drive on a 1996 supersport.
on the v drive unit there are 4 brass plugs: top and bottom/front and back.
the top plug on the back of the unit facining rear is marked 'water drain'. i have uncorked this drain as well as the other topside one on the other side of the unit. i'm assuming the plugs on the bottom are for oil? did i do this right?

    RE: v drive drains

You should be fine, top plugs are for water and the bottom ones are the oil drain. Also don't forget to check and clear the strainer in the v-drive if your replacing your oil. If your just getting it ready for winter then you should be done as long as you got the other 5 plugs. 2 on the engine, 1 one each manifold and 1 on the trans. Oooops, don't forget to also drain your strainer bowl, remove your impellar and fill the block with RV antifreze by dumping it in the lower hose going to the water pump.

      "....and 1 on the trans"??
did you mean to say something else there? impeller?
i removed 7 plugs in all:
      2 - vdrive
      2- manifold
      2- engine block
      1- impeller

There is one more but you might be talking about the same thing. Is your Impellar plug on the pump or before it on a "y" that feeds the transmission. For my boat it is on the starboard side of the engine near the floor and I believe my buddies (95 SS) is on the port side facing vertical. My boat is in storage so I'm trying to remember the path of the fresh water.
