    Drain Plugs for Winter

Nothing like waiting until the last minute...tried to winterize my 2003 210 super Air last night. I think my son removed all the drain plugs according to the user manual. But, someone was telling me about some blue plugs, we didn't see any blue plugs? Also, is there a plug under the engine somewhere? Does anyone have a diagram of all the plugs and hoses that need to be removed?

Went through this last weekend on my 03 SANTE. There is a drain plug on the starboard side near the bottom of the block (mine had a line running to it for the heater so I just removed the hose), the plug on the port side is the knock sensor and is located again towards the bottom of the block near the oil pan. You have a brass plug on each exhaust manifold (can't miss these - they are big). Then there is a drain plug on the transmission cooler - mine was located on the port side of the motor. Follow the cooling line coming from the strainer and you'll see it. Speaking of the strainer, make sure to empty the water out of it, and if you fill the motor with anti-freeze, don't leave it in the strainer bowl. It will craze and crack the plastic bowl.

There is also a drain plug on the water circulating pump. This one is hard to explain the location. Look on page 36 of the 2003 PCM parts manual and check out part #20. On a v-drive install this pump is on the back of the motor facing the stern. On the bottom of this pump on the port side, there is a small drain plug that needs to be removed. You'll also need to make sure to remove the drain plugs from the v-drive unit itself. They are square headed plugs located at the top of the v-drive unit, one in the front and one in the rear.

Good luck - hope this helps.

Thanks Redbird, think I was missing the one on the circulating pump.

I also add my thanks to Redbird. I have winterized PCm engines for years but this is my first year with the excalibur engine. I had some trouble finding the transmission cooler drain for some reason.

Always nice to see Nautiques in the Raleigh area as well.
