winterizing and uh-oh found some rubber in one block drain

took the port side drain off, and noticed I didn't get a lot of water out on that side, so started examining closer and found a small piece of rubber in the block drain. I didn't lose an impeller this year, I think the end of last year it was starting to go, but I replaced it with a new one to start the year. If I have rubber all the way down at the bottom drain, do I need to start trying to back flush?

    NO BIG DEAL!
I have over the years seen, rubber, large flakes of rust, mud even small sticks come out of my drains before CC went to a filter on the intake and I have never had any problems. I wouldnt worry, what ever happen it will just work it way through. A small peice of rubber will not block the normal cooling water flow.

Grab the piece of robber with a pair of needle nose pliers. and pull it out. If you are feeling ambitious, disconnect the hoses at the thermostat top cover, and hook a garden hose there, with the drain plug out. Poke up into the exhaust manifold water jacket and you can get quite a lot of loose rust flakes to come out.
I would then restart the engine, after hooking the hoses back up, to be absolutely sure no water went where it is not suppose to.

I think you need to trade it in on a new 09...and not take any chances.

Excellent. I'm sure she is a bright women. If she challenges my experience, be sure to tell her that a "leftover" '08 would be okay too. It doesn't "have" to be an 09....just new.
