No big deal
In the past 21 years of owning an inboard I have probably forgotten to add fuel stabilizer half of the time and never experienced any problems. I wouldn't give it another thought.2018 200 Team H6

RE: No big deal
The gas these days has certainly changed over the years. Lots of problems reported as fuel related. It's hard to sy if you'll have a problem or not. I'd at least try to get to the boat in the near future and get some Sta-bil in the yank and then rock the boat around to get it mixed in as good as possible.

RE: No big deal
My experience, the year I did not put fuel stabilizer in my boat, the low pressure fuel pump quit the next spring. I have no way of knowing if one caused the other, the boat had 920 hours on it at the time. The boat now has 2075 hours.
What I do, knowing the season is winding down in the fall, is I start to run fuel stabilized gas, because I cannot really predict when the last time the boat will go out.
I was told that because the fuel is constantly recirculated though the gas tank, it is exposed to air more in a fuel injection boat in side the tank, than an older carburetor boat engine.

RE: No big deal
If you want you can always go back and put it in. You can start the motor and run it without hooking up the belt. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HEAT THE MOTOR OVER ABOUT 150 degrees F since you are not circulating any water. That should allow enough time for the additive to hit the motor. After that you would fog cylinders etc as normal.

RE: Forgot to put fuel stabilizer in... big deal?
ffmedic, like you say- starting the motor shouldn't be a problem but your impeller ain't gunna like it!
wakecrasher, nsw fire brigade did a test some time ago on stabilisers and as a result we were told to cease using it. Not sure why, I'll look into it (ha ha just call me mirrors) anyhow i wouldn,t worry about it if it's for less than six months. If you were worried about it it probably wouldn't cost that much to get the fuel tested at the start of the season
