    Question about Boat Cover

Hey folks - just got my new Cover Sports Cover last night for my 210. ITs pretty much the same exact cover as the Rankin cover and the evolution cover. Got it from Brent in Washington whom I think was partners with the guy who does the evolution covers for Mali's.

Anyway - my question is regarding the "rail grabs" that velcro underneath the cover and kinda grab the rubrail. Are these necessary? Do you all use them? I have them on right now, and to me it seems as though with them on, there are gaps between the cover and the boat. Wouldnt it be better not using them, then the rope that you tighten - tightens right onto the boat itself - leaving no gaps?

Dont the gaps allow for air/moisture to come into the boat? Is it good having gaps like that, or wouldnt it be better not having any at all?

you definitely want the gaps. It helps dry it out (letting moisture out instead of in).

I cant picture what youre talking about- get some pictures. If its similar to the Rankin, then you dont want any gaps. Assuming its made out of sunbrella, its breathable.

Perhaps you have the hooks attached too far out? They should be completely under the cover (not visible from the outside with the cover installed). The drawstring should be tightening below the rubrail.

When you pull the cover tight from the back and cinch it down, those velcro hooks should slide down tight over the rub rail and grap the rubrail. It works awesome. I have that cover for my 210.

p.s. its a trailerable cover, so those hooks keep the cover from vibrating against the boat which will jack up your gelcoat. it also pulls the sides tight to give a nice flow to the cover. Ill see if I can find a pic.

Be careful with those straps on the back, they will easily scatch the gel coat. Speaking from experience.

I never understood why those Rankin covers leave the transom open like that. I'd like to see a "skirt", somewhat of a loose panel underneath the straps, that still allows for the straps to be tightened which would hold it in place. That or simply cut the cover longer to go to the rub rail and sew in the D-ring attachment points in the same spot.
