Yes AirTool, The data is digital, the resistor is connected to the DSS circuit breaker that interrupts inputs based on the operator input at the key pad. That much I have found detailed information on. But the fact is no data is sent from the DSS or Serial Bus to the ECU thus the resistor is not there for the ECU.

I just received some real documentation I have not completed reading and I will post what I find. For those just coming in, I created this thread to find the reason for the resistor installed in the ballast pump plug when a ballast pump is not present. I really appreciate all the opinions and colorful stories but I wish we could stick to documented facts. The resistor is there for a reason, guesses, speculation and pure fiction is not what I had in mind. Let’s stick with facts, somewhere in the system firmware or hardware requires that resistor.

There is a thread "K&N Oil Filter - Performance Gold?" full of BS, mud throwing and personal insults; let’s have some respect and keep this thread on an adult level please!

The resistor is not for the ECU, lets move forward.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Factory wiring with resistors terminatin

          Hi Jaybird,

I hoped I could "speculate" in the resistor story... But from your comments I understand my help is not wanted... I think I have a good background in electronics, but I find sometimes the reasoning behind some of these types of electronics confusing. So sorry I don't have a anwser immediate, I don't have the documentation, but I thought I could help you. Sorry once more..

Once more, I don't understand the reasoning behind this type of electronics. If the system would be a logical and safe setup, the internal circuit (dss) would be not changeble or configurable and would just control the relais/fusebox. The dss or "Faria" bus would never notice what load is connected and what not. It would just drive the relais/fusebox. The relais would drive the ballast pumps, heater, etc. For the relais circuit it is not neccesary to close the line with a load (resistor).
The ECU and DSS bus would indeed be coupled in a not write and executable manner, only readable mode.

If somebody have some schedules, this could be of big help.

I don't have the answer to your question, but I have an alternative that no one else has mentioned... Why not call CC customer service and maybe they can get you in touch with someone that can give you the answer your looking for and the reasoning behind it.

              Laptom,
Your help is very welcome; if you think you know something, and then tell me its what you think, if it’s a guess, say it’s a guess. We have one poster who makes statements as if they are facts when they are pure fiction, I assume to impress the laymen’s. The more he says the more you realize how little he knows. I too have good electrical knowledge; **** I have been designing PLC and machine control network system since before many here were born. I would appreciate any speculation you have knowing that is your meaning. . I’m the kind that will state what I know, discuss what I think but I am very careful to know the difference. The old saying in engineering; “its those who think they know that are the most dangerous”.

Thanks core-ride....I called CC and they advised I call a dealer. I had already discussed this with a 30 year CC employee and he was not sure. He though it may be that the Faria serial bus makes a system check at startup and if no pump is present logs an unknown error code that would possible confuse service techs. But he did admit this was just speculation.
