i have a 98 SS and bought a fake a lake last year and it was nothing but a pain, it looks like we have the same design for the water intake and i definitely recommend the Perko Flush, i just installed mine on monday and it works flawlessly, flows more water than i ever could get to flow with fake-a-lake! good luck!

I installed one of these

Also used a 10' long piece of water pipe attached to the third spigot to go to a bucket. When I flush, I turn the valve and put the hose end in a bucket of flowing water.....start boat, run boat, it uses all the water it needs, turn valve when done, continue like it never happened.

I have a 99 210 and it has the same intake as you. I have used a fake a lake for years. You just have to smash it real tight and pull all the edges around and it will just cover the entire intake area. It is a pain and does take a bit of monkeying to get it right.
The Perko flush would be super simple. But, they weren't around or I didn't know about them way back when I bought the fake a lake.
If I didn't own anything I would get the perko flush. If you installed it had problems or didn't want it later. All you would have to do is replace one short hose from your intake to your strainer. If you installed it prior to the strainer.1999 Super Sport Nautique

Sorry for the delayed response.
Yes, just a cheap plunger from the hardware store, I always run it on the trailer, parked in the grass so the right length isnt a problem, as i just wedge it up underneath the boat, with the wooden handle sticking tight into the ground.
The rubber cup is just fine, i sliced an "x" in it and just jam the hose through that.

I'm interested in your plunger idea. Did you use a regular plumbing plunger with a wooden handle and if so how did you get the handle to be the correct length.
Was the rubber cup big enough to cover the entire intake area on the hull?
