Starter engaged when engine running

I have a 08, 220. Intermitantly the starter stays engaged after the engine has started. The dealer made some adjustments, but the problem has returned.
Yes its still under warranty, but because it is intermitant, it never happens in the workshop.
I assume it is mechanical rater than electrical.
Any clues on where to look?

The starter bendix might be sticky. That is an easy fix after the starter is off. If the bendix sticks, the on-starter solenoid stays energized and the starter keeps cranking.

I the old days, GM starters had to be shimmed properly. Not sure about now. I had this problem on a 72 firebird and ultimately the starter housing cracked.

hasnt been is salt & only done 44hrs........
Shimming wont help as the starter bolts up from the bottom.
I feel it is electrical????
The dealer is stumped also.
We'll play around with few things this weekend & see where we end up.

Starters that are shimmable (sp?) usually bolt up from the bottom. Which engine do you have? 5.7 or 6.0?

With some electrical jumpers and such, this should be easy to troubleshoot. Isolate the gateway etc. while doing so so you don't back feed those.
