For anyone who is interested, here is my teak platform done, dry, with 4 coats of Cetol Marine regular finish. I would not add a gloss. It does not need it. It is a little glossier than the picture would indicate.

That's what I plan to do. I think it is really a warning against using it for boats that stay in the water, but that is just my guess. That said, I'm leaving the underside bare of Cetol to let it breathe and will just oil that occassionally.
Post your pics. Did you get the regular, or did you go with a lighter color? Now

My 1996 Tige looks like nothing was done to the teak since new either. It's probably getting the Cetol treatment in a couple of months.
I would like to see how the light turns out.Now

In an effort to get ridiculed more an more for having a black boat I submit this... 3 coats of Ebony stain, and I will probably put a coat or 2 of sealer on it as well. I wish I could get a little more even coverage, but the lighter wood just won't get any darker it seems like. The flash of the camera brightens up the wood a bit too. I will try to post better pics out in the sunlight, soon as it stops raining here.Jason

I'm a composite fan, but that would look great on a black boat

After I've used the cleaner on my teak platform, the grain rise (peach fuzz) is awesome. I leave it there and apply two coats of teak oil finish. (None of the products I've found are 100% teak oil, instead blends.) The grain rise prevents the platform from becoming slippery when wet.
