What size alternator do you have and do you think it could run four if needed? How many batteries do you have?

You want the "ballast puppy" pump. It comes with the reversible switch. I just installed the same system you are going to do three months ago. I had 2 existing inlets and used those for all four bags. The 750s in the rear locker fit really well and each have there own pump coming from a 1 1/4" manifold. I fill and drain them at the same time and have no problems. The front two bags come from a 3/4" inlet to a 1" manifold. I had to put shut off valves between each of the bags and the pump because once the front bag drained the pump would lose prime and not empty out the locker sac. I have two batteries with a battery isolator which switches between batteries on its own and was right around $50 shipped. It was also very easy to hook up.

When it comes to valves always put on on each thru hull but if you have one thru hull per bag then you don't need an additional valve to direct the flow towards the bag you want. I am going to do one hole, one pump per bag. I only have 3 bags in mind.

Thanks for the link for the pumps DavidF

I'm just starting to line up parts. I wont start this project until march/april. I'm also getting some upholstery redone and I'm going to install new speakers thru the boat and some on the tower. Big work ahead but I'll try to post pics as I go wake_fun. Your posts have been very helpful

So if I was to run 4 pumps to 4 bags would I need 2 batteries with an isolator switch between them?
Would I need to change my alternator?
What if I had an amp or 2 powering some speakers as well? Anything extra needed?

Add an extra battery for peace of mind. It is easy to do. You are potentially going to draw some pretty big chunks of power if everything is running at once.

I just installed two batteries in mine. I need to take some pictures on how I did it. I put my batteries up on the shelf at the rear compartments. I did not want to but you gain so much space. I used a Perko battery combiner that I got off of ebay. I also got all of my wire off of ebay also. Check out Geniunedealz.com store. Or search for marine wire and they will come up. They have the best prices and it showed up three days after the purchase.

                  Brad:

Did you relocate your primary battery from its original location to up on the "shelf"? I placed my second battery on the port shelf to help balance the boat, but left the primary battery in its orginal location. Especially since the starboard ballast is short to allow space for the battery. Just curious. One thing I noticed is that the space available on teh shelf is very tight fit for the battery if you do not want the battery or post coming into contact with the seat back. Where did you moutn the Perko switch? Mine is under the starboard stern seat cushion...PO put it there. I suppose this is a good location so if a battery dies, you do not have to remove the seatback to get to the switch (or batteries) if mounted under the hatch somewhere.

Exactly. I had to do that a bunch of times on my old BFN, and had to a couple times in the SAN.

Both batteries are mounted on the shelf and the switch is where yours is. I really did not want to have to take anything apart other than lifting a cushion to turn the switch. I got the idea from a 04 or 05 that was at my dealer getting some warranty work done on it. It had the switch under the rear seat so I copied it. I will take some pictures and post them tomorrow.

I run just one pump but have a manifold system and 3 fat sac's, two rear, one in the forward locker. It takes me about 10 minutes to drive to where we board so being able to fill the tanks rapidly is not any real concern as I fill the tanks on the move. Really what I am saying is that multi pump systems are the easiest in terms of running your hoses but unless you need rapid fill/empty it is a bit of a luxury that is not totally necessary. Also you don't have problems with having to up the alternator and run some significant sized wiring for the pumps.
