    Duel and Single Exhaust ?

It’s very curious :?: Correct Craft has been back and forth between duel exhaust and single exhaust several times over the years. I believe all boats 1988 and prior had duel exhaust then in 89 they introduced a larger single exhaust, now I have a 2003 Air 226 with large duel exhaust yet I see that many later model boats are back to single exhaust. Now that’s four flip flops now! What’s the deal? :?:

Personally I like the tone better of my duel compared to some of my friends who have single.

RE: Duel and Single Exhaust ?

Post a picture of the transom on your 226, both inside and out, please! This is newest boat Ive heard of that has gotten a dual exhaust. Essentially all non-big block Chevy powered CC's (first the 454 then the Python) since 1989 got the single exhaust. The only exceptions Im aware of are a handful of dealer conversions... and of course, my '90. To my knowledge they havent flip flopped at all- but Im admittedly not overly familiar with the 226.

Most dual exhaust boats use a three inch pipe. The single exhaust boats use I have seen use a four inch pipe. If you double the area of a circle, you quadruple the area. A single exhaust flows almost as much as a dual exhaust, and leaves room for the pittman arm on the rudder in a tight bilge area.

Me neither, which is why I did a quick search. 3/3 226s (2 on this site) all have dual outlets. I can't tell you why, but my guess would be that there isn't sufficient room for a 2-1 muffler on the 226. Thanks for the info Tim. :|

The duel exhaust on my 226 are 4 inch. I will post a photo but I have looked very closely and I would bet they are factory, not dealer conversion.

I just assumed mroe had duel exhaust

I didn't realize only the 226 had duel exhaust, interesting! both are the large 4" inch.

I learned something new about Correct Crafts today. I must remember that one for the next Correct Craft trivia game show

I just had the prop balanced thus its looks new. Coastal Prop Tech uses a computer balance and pitch analyzer and if you want a perfect prop give them a try. Ask for Janice and tell her Jay referred you, might get me some brownie points. If they do a prop rebuild its perfect. Not the cheapest but the best.
