    Wake Problems on a 2006 220

    Hi there,

This is my first post, so hello everyone.

I'm doing some research for my wakeboard club as the wake on our Super Air 220 is really crumbly and mushy. It's still ride-able but a few of us rode behind another 220 and the wake was far better, more solid and consistent. There must be something we can do to fix it, or at least improve it.

We don't have any additional ballast (fat sacks etc) and we've tested the boat with the standard internal ballast at various levels with the same problems. Our local dealer doesn't seem interested, hence our research.

Our part of the lake doesn't have anything to do with it either (depth etc) as we've had guest boats over and they've performed well.

Any help on this would be great as we're having our AGM soon and the boat will be coming out of storage. If there's any more info I can provide that can help, please let me know.

    Thanks!

      Hey,

I don't think it's damaged. I'll get it checked out though. I've had suggestions that it's just a weight issue and that adding a series of sacks will firm it up. I would have thought that full standard ballast should provide a half decent wake.

      Thanks though!

the 220 is very weight sensitive compared to 210 230 etc. I would suggest looking for someones setup on here and trying the same thing. Example: Where they have exra weight at. My buddies 220 was the same way, unweighted, white wash on either side of the wake, always adjusting speed and moving people around in the boat while pulling a rider.

            Vista,

We have an 07 220 and have found it to be prone towards overweighting in the rear. If we fill up all factory ballast tanks and have 4-5 people on board, it helps to put additional weight in the bow and cleans up the wake.

Also, 220 seems to like higher speed to get a realy clean wake. I was used to riding at 21 mph but found the wake slightly washy, at 22-23 the wake is clean and hard.

              220

I have an 07 220. I have never found the wake to be that bad, even with only stock ballast. I do have a fly high system plumbed in on top of the factory ballast. One sack above each tank in the rear and a v-shaped sack under the seats in the bow. I am unsure of how much each sack weighs, I can find out if you need it. Most of the time I fill the factory tanks and then fill the bow sack. This boat does need more weight up front in my opinion. The extra sacks are great for surfing too.

If you need some help contact N3boatworks.com
Mark has had a few 220s and can hook you up with everything.

My friends down under that bought the 99 Python SAN called after a couple weeks of riding and were complaining about thier wake. They sent a picture and it was a disaster. It took a bit of discussion to figure out that the boat had freaking trim tabs on it. in the 40-50 pics I had seen they were not in there, until you looked in the shadows on one or two. 10 minutes to remove, and their wake was perfect as it should be. Still cannot figure out why the PO had put them on there.......
On the nearly impossible chance that this boat has something like that... it is worth a double check.
