      Well, not sure really. For starters, WD40 is cheaper and easier to find than silicon spray. Also, I do not like silicon except for very specific applications. Once you spray silicon on something, good luck painting it...

        wd40 is bad for some fuel lines also

            You use WD40 for exactly the reasons you stated. It gets rid of water and evaproates quickly. As for as a lubricant, its worthless, but thats not its primary intention
