    Dash Depth Finder

    Hi all -

I have a '98 SuperSport and would like to put an in-dash depth finder in this spring. Can anyone offer a good product or some helpful hints for me? Thanks!

I used this in my last boat.http://ca.binnacle.com/product_info....oducts_id=6902 It seemed to work pretty good. Install was kind of a pain though.

If you want what came factory use the Uniden. It comes with a white face to match. I have one and like it.

The picture shows both all white and all black but the ring around it also is interchangeable so you can get a black ring and white face.

The Faria I have in my 2005 works so much better than the stock one (Teleflex?) that was in my 1995. The mineral oil bath coupling to the hull sounder seems better than the glue to hull others.

        Here lots of options:

I believe Humminbird was OEM factory in '98, but may not. The Humminbird HDR-610 comes with both a white and black face. Make sure you get the in-hull transponder.

Did you mean "thru hull" ? I know they make transducer puck that glues into place on the inside of the boat as well a unit that is mounted under the boat with a bolt running up thru the hull.

Does the "glue in place puck" not work?

My friend and I installed the Humminbird on my 211 last week, super easy install ( took all of an hour) and it works fine. I have the thru hull (glue in place puck) we glued it bow side of the gas tank.

Get a Faria, the Humminbird 600/610's are crap. I had one that lasted 6 months, called their "customer service," and they said, tough luck, but we have a new model you could try.

I did hear that the newer versions are better, but my experience would prevent me from purchasing another Humminbird product.

I just replaced the original Humminbird 600 in my '99. It still worked, but rodents had chewed off two of the rubber buttons. So, I could not make adjustments. Otherwise, the 600 worked perfectly even though it was 9 or 10 years old. I replaced it with a 610 and utilized the existing puck (glued in). So, Humminbird seems like a good brand to me.

I have a Uniden that is new in the box if anyone wants to buy it off of me resonably priced...say 25% discount of best advertised price?

in the late 1990's depth finders were installed at the Correct Craft factory in Orlando, by a regional service center, or at the dealer who sold you the boat. They also used through hull senders (the hockey puck) glued in, or a transducer mounted on the transom.
Pretty much any brand of a depth finder that fit the hole in the dash, with a white face was used.

I have never had any luck with the Humminbird ones. I gave up after 3 of them in previous boats. The one in my current boat doesn't work either. If I towed my boat to other lakes often I would probably put one in. I would get a Faria.
