    236 Tower Folding Question

So I finally needed to fold my tower for the first time and was wandering how hard it should be to fold down? How many guys to fold the FCT on a 2007 236? I gave it a try the other night and it seemed unlikely I could fold it myself? Thx!

If you're talking about a FCT and not a Titan, it depends on how much you have mounted to it and how tall you are. If you are not vertically gifted, put a box or something to stand on in the middle of the bow walkway. My 211 is simple to do by myself, but I have height and nothing mounted to the tower.

I'd say at most one other guy.

2 deafcom cans are all that are on it. It is not the Titan. It is the original FCT tower. Know offense but your 211 is a lot smaller, on my old 210 it was easily a one man operation.

The main reason I am asking is that I am renting a lake house this summer that has a shore station lift. Know way for it to fit without folding and I may be alone some times with just the kids. Thanks again!

No offense taken...just didn't think the towers were that much (some but not extremely) different. If the 210 is 'easily' a one man op, I'd think this one was too, just maybe not 'easily'.

        Enjoy your summer!

I know what you mean. I have to fold my tower to put the boat away. I do it alone and it requires a balancing act. Here’s what I do now, but I am looking for an easier way. (Jonfo, I still plan to drop by when the season gets going.)

Facing the windshield, I stand in the bow and step up onto the gunnel and brace a foot against the tower base to rock the tower forward past the tipping point. Holding the tower, I then step forward along the gunnel and ease the tower down.

Standing in the cockpit, I can’t reach the top of the tower to fold it forward. Plus, from there, I am not sure I’d have leverage to both push it forward past the tipping point and be able to switch around and catch it on the bow side as it folds.

Jonfo suggested standing on the bow filer cushion which I will try.

Probably the only issue I have with my 236 is folding the FCT flight tower...what a Sh*tty desgn from that perspective. I actually made a custom telescoping pole (out of a heavy duty paint pole and altered C-clamp) that I can attach to the tower and walk the tower through that midway pivot point you're talking about when I have to fold it solo. Unless you're Shaquille O'Neal, the tower does not fold very in a very practical manner.

sstexan, It was impossible for me to fold my tower by myself. I wasn't real thrilled either when the wife had to help. Like kaikane mentioned the pivot point....be very careful when you reach this point or have someone ready to catch because, shes a comming!
