    Keypad Problem on my '03

Trying to get out on the lake for the first time this season and ran into a little snag. Just wanted to see if you guys might know what the problem is.

I had the starter replaced at the end of last season...but I don't think that's the problem. When I enter the master code, the light on the right side comes on solid...but it won't start or run any of the accessories. The second light won't come on at all. The light that is on does blink when the numbers are pressed though.

The batteries are brand new, but I hooked up a charger this morning just to make sure there was juice. I checked all the breakers below the dash and they looked fine. Checked the kill switch as well and it appears to be ok.

The odd thing about all this is that the panel is clearly getting juice. I would think I should be able to turn on the accessories at least no? Any ideas would be greatly greatly appreciated.

If you push the start button once it acts normally? When you push a second time but do not hold does it fire up the guages and such allowing the radio to play?

No it doesn't fire up the gauges when I push it the second time. The horn and all the other accessories don't work either.

The bilge does work when I flip the rocker switch, so I'm assuming I'm getting power to the dash. Maybe there's something I'm missing though.

        Strange update.

I left the charger on while I ran up to get a multimeter. When I got back, the batteries were each showing ~12v and none of the accessories would fire up.

Just now I set the toggle switch next to the throttle to "All Off" and let it sit for a minute. When I flipped it back on everything fired up and it sounded like it would even start. What's weird is the keypad was still getting at least some power before, so I'm not sure how the switch itself could be bad. Anybody have any ideas?

I had the exact problem with my 06 206. The dealer told me it is the bilge switch my your right leg. Once it was replaced, the problem was solved.

Have you checked the kill switch. Maybe it's flaky. I can't remember what it disables besides starting the engine. We thought we had run out of gas one day and got a tow in, just to find out that the kill switch had fallen off.

This behavior will occur if the dash isn't getting enough juice. Don't assume that because the battery is strong that everything is fine. In my case, a heavily corroded battery cable was the culprit, right where the cable meets the clamp. Check for this simple stuff first.

I am having almost the exact same issue with my 05 210. We charged both batteries last night (both are 100% charged). The bilge pump has power but when turn the swtich to "ON" and enter the code NOTHING happens. We did trash the kill switch last year but it is bypassed so I don't think that is the issue. How do you check the fuses under the dash? This is my first boat electrical problem and this fuse box looks much different than an automotive fuse box. Thanks much for the help!

Check the voltage at the dash. I found in my 03' was that CC, and they won't admit to it, ran a too small power wire to the dash. I found that I had about a 1/2-1 volt drop to the dash, Perfect Pass would reset due to low voltage and beep at me and it reflected on the dash volt meter. I would measure the battery and then the black box under the dash and found the problem. I ran another power wire to the dash and my problem went away.

                    Power to dash

Hey wakejunky, I think ou might have just hit on the problem. I have an '04 196 and every so often when I honk the boats horn, everything goes dead, boats dies and all power shuts off, everything. I have to re-enter the code on the keypad and fire back up. I'm going to check out the power wire and run an additional one up to see if this solves my problem. Dealer has been perplexed on this and it is an intermittent problem. Thank you for your post on this.

Mine was the master battery switch. Moved it from Off to On a few times and it fired up!!!
