Have you tried a pipe cutter? I have one for electrical metallic tubing (EMT) and I think I paid about $40.00 for it. I have seen others for copper pipes at Home Depot that are fairly cheap and may do the job. Both are manual and you basically clamp the pipe to the cutter and adjust the cutting blade after the tool was turned one or two times, then continue adjusting until the pipe has been cut. The nice thing about the pipe cutters is that they leave an even cut (perpendicular to the tube) and it is clean on the edges.

I also have a RotoZip with the circular saw/grinder attachment. This would work well but my first choice would still be the pipe cutter. If you go for a grinder, or saw, the cut may be clean but not necessarily perpendicular to the tube.

          Agree with the tubing cutter.

One time I needed to cut some thin 2" brass alloy pipe....and remembered at the threading machine in home they had a big tubing cutter.

Sooooo...I went into HD with my part and "borrowed" their tubing cutter. It did a great job. Put her back in her proper location and off I went.

I've spent thousands of dollars there...it was the least they could do for me.

so i am just now getting around to cutting my bimini pole since it's really hot. is there a trick to getting the pole out of the little black mounting bracket? i know there's a silver a piece but if memory serves it doesn't look like any type screw head. i can figure it out tomorow but i'd like to not break anything and i always like to have a game plan if possible. thanks again.

That would probably be a Rivet, it will have to be drilled out. While your at it you might as well replace them with stainless hardware ends, otherwise you will need to find a friend with rivets and a rivet gun.

****. i definitely don't have any friends with a gun so it looks like gorilla tape will have to do until my next service. thanks though. i've been thinking about putting my wet sounds 3some on top of the tower rather than the usual under, but i still have to cut it anyway to fit b/c the other one is shorter. ws. on top will make it a little easier on the folks sitting in the back and more head room.

                        I'm thinking its a dimple crimped in...not a rivet.

maybe you should leave this project to the professionals or at least have adult supervision
