Perfect pass wbp and 2001 PAN

I have recentally installed a wake board pro perfect pass on my 2001 PRO Air nautique... not to be confused with an "Air Nautique", PAN has many more strakes and the vents in the hull ...
    ....
I installed the sensor per the instructions and Dealer recommendation..
to the right side of the drain plug...
It searches/surges up and down 2mph from set speed....
PP now recommends mounting the paddle wheel in the center of the boat under the engine as far back as possible..
Are there any 2000 or 2001 PRO AIR Nautique (PAN) owners here who have pp installed and it works... Where is your sensor mounted....

the proper spot is on the centerline between the oilpan on the engine and the flywheel housing. there should be a area where the oil pan kicks up to the back of the motor.

too bad the directions didnt cover this hull install... could of only put one hole in the boat...

I bought my 2000 PAN used with the WBP paddlewheel already installed to the right of the drain. It works fine in that location (no surging). Go figure!?!

Settings for WBP on a PAN

Just installed the PP WBP in my 99 ProAir... about 6" to the right of the drain... :x took it out last night and did feel some surging. Boat speed varies around 1 MPH around the target (target +/- 0.5MPH around setting) when going in a straight line on semi smooth water. Is this normal?? Havent ridden behind it yet, but suspect that this might be annoying...

Didnt play with any of the settings on the PP yet. For those who are happy with the paddle wheel to the right of the plug, what settings are you guys running ?? Definitely want to give it a shot working before punching another hole in the boat...

            TIA,
            Ralph-

RE: Settings for WBP on a PAN

thats what mine is surging at now... center mounted... I have never riden in a pp equiped standard air ( smooth bottom).... try loading the boat a little fwd.... several people in front helped smooth mine out some also.. I dont think the center spot is going to be much better.... but then you can always swap the plug around to what ever spot works best... it just screws in with oring seals like the paddle wheel... its only one more hole.... LOL... I used the settings suggested by pp tech line... cant remember what they were..

                SS,
I read your thread, and you're saying the 2nd location (behind oil pan centered) doesn't work either?? I have a 99 PAN, and I'm looking at the PP option for the boat. Are you saying that it is varying the speed by 1-2mph when loaded with ballast? Are you running the stock tanks, or adding more weight? We run ours with the stock tanks, and no extra weight yet.

Did you speak to the CC factory on sensor placement? Is transom mounting an option?

                thanks,
                Jack

It works much better in the center location on my boat... its not perfect,
it still hunts approx .5 mph total... (up .5 and down .5) if the driver does not dirve a really stright line it will surge more... big boarder like me 240lbs and big pulls.... for maybe not so big air...???? anyway... I try.. with all the strakes vents and such the water leaving a pan hull is trubulent and I doubt a transom sensor would work... but didnt ask that question of pp.. I have never ridden in another nautique with boarder or skier and pp and cant compair it to a smooth hull installation... dealers, secc and the nav co. both recommended the first hull hole location... pp sent me to the center location.... shoud have contacted pp first... bottom line the pp does a much better job at pulling boarders than I can manually... and way better than my teenage daughters can pull me.... consider it a safty thing too.. girls are looking for traffic instead of the speedo because dads pissed about the total lack of speed control... and his old age... lack of ability.... and to touch on loading we run the stock tanks right now... considering cleaning out the skis from the ski locker and adding a center tank/bag... hardly ever ski any more...
