Whats wrong with the '04 SAN tower?

Wife and I got our SAN a little over a month ago.

I like our tower on the new boat, but have heard rumblings about the '05's going back to the older tower style. Some have implied there is a problem with the new ('04) one...

Can anyone confirm this, and Why the switch?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the '04 towers. Some people just don't like them because they don't flow with the lines on the boat like the '03s did. It's all personal preference.

Matt, I've heard the same issues on wakeworld. However, noone will come forward with exact information. I personally like the design of the '04 tower better.

I like the '04s better also. I heard people complain about not being able to reach through to the dash when outside of the boat like they could with the older tower.

For what it is worth I like the lines of the 04 tower better. It does appear to be difficult to get it lined up properly. My first one was destroying the nylon washer in the port side joint as we took it down and put it up. Dealer replaced the port side support bracket and now it is more crooked than before. We are going to try a new tower this fall to see if a matched set will work better.

My '04 Tower is great. I would not have any other. My dealer did an outstanding job on the installation and I have no complaints other than it is heavy to fold with the Skylon - Kicker speakers.

I think this arguement is much like the boat arguement. Whatever you have, that is what you like.... Hard to find someone with an '04 who like the '03 tower better and same the other way around.

I am sure that does not include everyone, but probably close....

I have an '04 and like the '03 MUCH better.

Wakebrad, I also believe that it is hard to get into the glove compartment from outside the boat (when you dont want to take off your shoes) to get that phone or wallet that ALWAYS gets left in there after we pull the boat out of the water.

Our '04 tower is lined up great as far as I can see, but the stock powdercoat is chipping in the area where the 2 ends of the tower meet when you collapse it. Doesn't have anything to do with the tower design though.

you see a sillouhette of an o3. and you know its a flight control. you see one of a 04 it could be 1 of a number of companys.
i dont have one at all but think cc made the right choice on the change back.

Two problems with my 04 tower:

1. The tower does not align with the base, some comments have been made about some dealers corrected this when they arrive. Mine did not and every time I fold the tower down, it irritates me.

2. With the new offsets, an air chair rack will not fit.

I'm really considering buying a 04 SANTE.
Can you send me a pic of the tower whem it is down. I heard soemone else having the same problem when they drop the tower.

Sorry for not responding sooner, I will take some pictures this weekend. I personally like the appearance of the 04 tower better but the function is another matter. My Air Chair rack finally showed up (Titan now makes an oval one) last week. Put it on last weekend and because of the radius and the offset of the tower the Air Chair stuck out from the boat about 21/2'

I need a sign to mount on the tower to warn people "WIDE LOAD." Not sure what I'm going to do with it. Ordered two Titan wakeboard racks today, were going to see if one can be mounted on the lower round tube. If they work, I'll have a part machined to compensate for the tower offset on the Air Chair rack.

Talked to the dealer about the alignment, it will be corrected when I take her in for winterization in November.

I still prefer the 04 over an 05 even with the minor issues.
