    Torsion axle

I recently had a bearing go out and i think my spindle is shot. The trail is a ram lin with torsion axles. Has any one replaced the spindle by grinding the weld and then welding a new spindle in place?? Changed bearings on rear axle last year, dont ask why i did not replace all four!!! Thanks if any on can help

    RE: Torsion axle

    d_,
It sure looks like it's time for a new spindle. You have the Posi-lubes so finding a spindle may be a problem. All the spindles you find from trailer supplies I feel will be the solid type without the center grease hole. Yes, a common repair is to grind/torch the plug weld off the spindle/axel.

You have a surelube axle. You can get new ones from championtrailers.com. Call them and give them your dimensions and they will fix you up.

Yep, champion is about 25 min from my house. First called them about a new axle. Thanks for the help, wanted to make sure I was on the right track. I can grind and torch, gonna have to get someone to weld it for me.

          thanks

            RE: Torsion axle

I would buy a new axle. Getting the spindler on straight and square might be tough. And by the time you pay someone to do it, a new axle might be the way to go (and you can DIY).

I called northlake and they said it would take about four weeks to order axle or spindle. Went to champion and got the spindle, not an exact match but works with the hub.
