    Need tips from Python owners

Going to pick up new 02 super air with Python this weekend. What are some tips to take care of my new pet snake!!!

Like type of oil to use, any thing to keep my eyes open for, do i need Snake boots when doing service? . . . I know you guys can run with this thing . . .

Also going to pick up 02 Excursion diesel for tow truck to pull back from NC to Arkansas. Must have a horsepower/torque deficiency that we are trying to overcome. . .

      I love my python.

I use Mobil 1 15w50 in mine. It has the zinc additive it requires. If it is currently using conventional oil, I would not necessarily change it. The Python does burn oil, so keep an eye on it. It is not dramatic or anything.

Another thing, if it doesn't already have it, call PCM and get a remote oil filter kit. Doing an oil change on that beast is about the least amount of fun you can possibly have in your boat. It totally sucks. I finally got one last year. You will still have to use an evacuator to get the oil out, but it makes the filter a 5 minute job.

One more question. Do you have to burn high octane gas?

You are making me want to buy the all white ski for sale with the 502 in it. I was thinking about bring it up to the wife this weekend. Still might but with 2 boats already 3 might lead me to "court". I'll see what kind of mood she is in when she gets home, "court" might be worth it.

Sweet dude. It already has the remote oil filter kit on it. That will save you hours and hours of headaches.
As far as the gas, I always run 91 in mine. 89 is probably fine, but whatever. Is it factory ballast? Or custom?

Crad, the SN with the 502 is an insane boat. They are awesome in the Vdrives, but direct drive is simply a BEAST!!

I had a friend with a 2000 Sport Nautique that had the 502. It went from 39 to 50 MPH and skiped 40 all together! SWEET

I have driven a couple v drives with the 502. Loved it. Love the sound too. It is going to be a toss-up. I'm also looking at an 81 Century Resorter with a 454. That boat sounds good too. The Ski will be more usable for me though. We will see......

Congrats on picking up that boat! I've seen it in person as I was briefly considering buying it to replace my Python powered Pro Air, but in the end, it wasn't going to solve my space "issue." Dealer told me they ordered it for their customer (large Charlotte car dealer) and that he traded it for a 220. It has the factory wedge tanks in it, but they were running sacks on top of them. The panels in the storage lockers were gone, but overall the boat was in decent shape. I don't think it's been run in two year, so if you buy it, get them to do a service on it after you demo run it. Should be a beautiful day here in Charlotte!

Oh yeah, it's got the digital guages, so you'll have to plan on replacing those shortly, see if you can determine if it has the "dripless packing" for the propshaft, if you have to change that out, you're looking at pulling the engine to do it. As Mike stated, check the oil often, mine does burn oil, but my engine and Mike's engine are 8.2/502's, this boat has the newer 8.1/496 version.

Hope you get a killer deal on that boat....

Nothing like a good road trip to pick up an Nautiue, and then you go and get a Diesel to pull it!!!
You are doing it inboard60! Lets see the truck and boat photo!

What took me so long to get a diesel. Don't know if I am more excited about the excursion or the boat. . . glad they finally got cheap enough for me to get one

The python is kind of scary. Will have to keep ballast in the front to hold it down. You are right about skipping 40 . . . when the power band kicks in it kind of reminds you of star trek . . . warp speed Scotty . . .

That exit off the interstate in Mooresville is good for folks looking for inboards. There is a Malibu dealer and then Northpoint Mastercraft and then in another block the new Nautique and supra moomba dealer. Brian is a straight shooter at Northpoint. . . Lake Norman looks pretty cool even though I bet it gets crowded in the summer . . . it was crowded Saturday

Thinking about removing the pinstripes and giving it a cleaner all white look . . . got to dreaming about different ways to either go very plain and clean or go with later graphics. . . maybe just the new chrome graphics . . . maybe a wrap . . . maybe the nautique black falcon looking graphic. . .

                              what do you guys think?
