    ProBoss TBI fuel filter?

I have a 94 SPN with the 5.8L ProBoss and TBI. I have only found only small inline filter to change, but there is small metal canister right before the fuel pump. I tried to move, thinking it was the FCC like on the GT40 EFI, but it didn't budge. Here's a pic. Does anyone know if it contains a fuel filter inside? If so, what filter? Thanks.

After doing some research, I believe that that is low pressure pump.

Yes, that is the low pressure/high volume pump. I suprised that your boat does not have a fuel filter/water seperator mounted just ahead of the engine on the port stringer or cross piece (pylon support)

TBI motors are pre FCC I believe.

In the picture if you follow the fuel line right it goes to a small inline fuel filter, then runs back to the tank.

Here are a couple of pictures of my TBI engine. The line at the right of the pump heads forward to/from the fuel/water seperator. The line above the pump is the return line to the tank.

That must have been end user or dealer installed. I definitely don't have one there.

OK, I am an idiot and completely forgot that my boat is a '93 that originally had a cabureted engine and thus had the fuel water seperator that stayed behind when the engine was swapped for the '95 TBI engine you see above. So, back to your original question...I guess the inline filter is all you have and you should consider adding a fuel/water seperater. On my '77 Martinique, I made a simple bracket out of 1/4 x2" flat steel bar (welded into an "L" shape) that I bolted to the front left of the engine block (there are two unused bolt holes/bosses on the block in this location).

Have any suggestions on which fuel/water separator I should get?

google "racor marine water separator" and see what you find.

That is probably the exact one I installed on my Martinique. I am sure it will accept virtually any spin on filter.
