    GT 40 Heat Exchanger

My 1998 AN is running great now and my next step is to install a heat exchanger. Skidim has one specific to the gt40 for $325 made by pcm but I am not shure if it includes all hardware, pluming, ect. Anyways this is my first time puting one on and just looking for some advise and things I should watch for during the install. Does anyone have one of these installed on their gt40? Is their a clearance issue with the motor box? I plane on calling skidim on monday and getting more info before making the purchase. I live over here in Titusville FL and would like to take my boat in the brackish water.
    Thanks
    Mike

based on the price and description, i'd assume that the gt-40 exchanger is for replacement not conversion and won't come with all the other claptrap.

The one for the 351 is a kit http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=RK025009D

The description for the gt-40 doesn't say kit.

Maybe you need the 351 kit AND the two pass gt-40 exchanger totalling over a thousand bucks. Then sell the extra exchanger.

Don't count on me though....I've got a chevy.

Like your first suggestion...call SKIDIM or White Lake or somebody who knows.

You might also be able to study parts exploded view in the PCM manual if there is one....here or on ccfan. Tonight, someone who knows should respond...it is Easter Sunday and most are probably busy this weekend.

I'm sure this is a dumb questions, but what does this do? Not a total gear head here.

A "fresh water" cooling system runs a closed loop typically anti freeze solution through the engine just like a car. Instead of a radiator, there's the heat exchanger cooling the antifreeze from lake water. Keeps lake water out of the engine. Many are used when the boat is run in salt - brackish water or aluminum engine components need corrosion protection.
