    Perfect pass buttons not working

I have a 2000 SAN with PP digital pro, the last couple of times I have been out the up arrow has stopped working, this weekend the all of the buttons stopped working, the display is fine and the shows the set speed and the current speed but none of the buttons work so cant turn it on or adjust speed. I have replaced all the electrics so far in the dash ie both keypads and speedo from corrosion (common in this model)Has my PP gone the same way and I need to replace the unit? Anyone have an old display they want to get rid of? Thanks

Same thing happened to my PP display. It just pooped out one day. You can purchase the 6.5NG upgrade with the new, bigger LCD display for around 200.00 direct from perfect pass. They will also put the Nautique logo on there and everything for you. Very worthy upgrade.

Would this work? Do i need to upgrade the chip aswell? Is that involved or quite simple. I take it all the parts required are available from PP. Thanks again

This is the exact same behavior that I had on my 03 PP gauge. Can the bezel come off? It is just held on with a little glue. It should be old and crusty by now. You can then see a clear ribbon cable that goes from the membrane switch panel to the little circuit board. On mine, I was able to take two screw drivers and short one of the end pins (ground) to another pin on that same connector. I could do that for all the pins. You can pretty easily trace where each button goes to each pin. This is how I adjusted the PP for a whole season.

If that is your problem, you can order a replacement membrane switch for $35.

Scroll down about halfway on the first page of my thread...

LOL, I just checked the ebay site and if you can get it for that cheap, then it's probably easier to do than to replace this. Of course you would have the words "Epic" on it. Not sure if it would work or not. You could call perfect pass and ask. Their tech support crew is pretty good.

Yes for that price it would be good. I would pay the $35 and get the face changed couldnt have Epic on my dash it just wouldn't be right. It would only work if I upgrade the chip in the PP so finding out what that involves to do. Will keep let you know how I get on.

Just read your post PP quoted me $199 for a new gauge no suggestion of replacing the membrane.

See if you can test the switch with the method I discribed. If the pp module responds, then all it is is the $35 membrane switch.

I had the same problem last night after a long wet winter. Based on what I read here I opened up the display unit by using a box cutter to gently pry the clear front face off the green back housing. Applied rubbing alcohol with a cotton ball (didn't have contact cleaner at 11pm) to the slot where the flex cable enters the front face. It worked, don't know yet for how long and hoping the alcohol dries out and doesn't cause other issues.
Update: not working this morning. I see condensation in the display window. Will try wire dryer or contact cleaner.
update: tried wrapping in a baggie of rice to dry it out. Still intermittent. Will kluge a switch if needed. Looking for a replacement display if anyone has one. Perfect Pass wants $700+ for display and Stargazer upgrade.
