    Ram-Lin trailer lug torque

Anyone know what a 6 lug 1/2" stud trailer lugs need to be torqued to? I dont want to break one off and I set them up at 85 now but one feels like it might have that loosening while tightening about to break feeling going on it.

    Any thoughts?

    RE: Ram-Lin trailer lug torque

    Hey TRDon,

I had something similar occur and it turned out to be the outer part of the lug had somewhat separated from the inside so it would turn but not actually tighten, in part because I had stripped the lug a bit by not having the socket on all the way. The ramlin lugs on mine are somewhat malleable, and hence susceptible to damage if you over torque it. I just replaced the bad lug and everything was cool.

The hard part was getting it off after this happened. I ended up hammering on a slightly smaller metric socket that locked it together enough to break it free.

I never actually measured the torque I apply, but I have a 1 & 1/2 foot breaker bar I use that I only crank until it snugs up a 1/4 turn, so I'm probably in the 75 ft-lb range.

I torque all my wheels to 100 ft lbs, trucks up to 1 ton 120 ft lbs.
If you have aluminum wheels re torque them after 15-20 miles.
