    ski nautique 2001 propellor

    Hi There..
I have recently purchased a Ski Nautique 2001 here in South AFrica. It has been suggested that I purchase a 4 blade propellor , preferably a 14"x14" RT. I do not know whther this is an accurate spec, if so where in the USA could I purchase it OR if not what is the correct propellor for my nautique. Please can you assist with advice and or suggestions?

    Hi Nickyd,

The propellor size will depend on which transmission you have and the brand of prop you want to purchase. My 2001 has the PCM 1.23:1 tranny. The stock prop was a Federal 3-blade 14x16. A few years back I changed it to an OJ Force 4-blade 13x15. I lost a little top end speed but gained some low end power. The change helped a little with holding the boat at wakeboard speeds. There have been some favorable reviews of the new Acme props. I believe that is what Correct Craft is putting on the new boats. Supposedly they have a 3-blade that outperforms the 4-blades. Check out CorrectCraftFan.com. There is a review of it there. www.skidim.com carries both Acme and OJ props. You can contact either company directly to determine the correct size prop for your boat.

If you are unsure what transmission you have, the type is encoded in the engine's model number. That's assuming you have the original engine. I believe the choices are Borg Warner 1:1, PCM 1:1 and PCM 1.23:1. I don't think the PCM transmission were available until around 1988 or 1989.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark

You mean year 2001 or model 2001? If you meant the latter, what year is it? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm 99% sure all 2001's ('82 or 3 to '89) were 13x13's, RH. If you can't wait for answers here, skidim can tell you also. I'm "this close" to buying a 4 blade for mine. I have a reman 3 blade and I think they messed up. Top speed went from about 43 to 38...
