I've been leaving my boat docked up at the lake all summer the past few summers. I always put my cover on so nothing will get stolen, and to avoid too much water in the boat. Is it healthier for the upholstery and teak backboard (AKA - will it help keep mold away) if I do away with the cover and let the boat get some sun and air. Also, would anyone recommend taking the backboard off everytime I leave the lake so that it stays healthy. Thanks.

aside from airing it out and wiping it down no. if you are really worried about it i would take it out of the water if you dont use it every day or two. i have personally left my old mc in the water cover on in central florida summer for at least a week and no mold at all and i didn't air it out, but be careful

Mildew can be prevented by regularly cleaning the interior. I've had great luck with a GOOF OFF product called MILDEX, seems to clean well and even removes mildew that has started. I would always cover if you're storing outside. Keeps fading to a minimum, and keeps out critter such as birds that can do extensive damage.
