    93 SN- wetsanding/buffing the getcoat?

my friend bought a 93SN and the purple gelcoat has turned white in some areas.
We have removed the SKI NAUTIQUE decals and we gave it a quick buff hoping it would do the trick but it's not gonna cut it. How should one restore this reglected beauty?
    thanks in advance

You thread title says it all, wet sand and THEN compound, wax, and buff. If the oxidation is really bad, you may want to start with 1000 grit, but you will need to make sure you get all the scratches out with subsequent finer grit paper. So, maybe you should start with 1200 and see how it responds. If you have any scratches, sand those out first with 600>1000>1200.

Others may suggest starting-ending with different grit paper and that is fine, do what you think will work the best.

Do all this by hand, do not use a machine for sanding. You MUST use a machine for compounding (7" buffer/polisher). Harbor Freight sells one for about $35.00 or so (variable speed).

          93' SN Gelcoat Buff

How did it turn out? Any pics/updates/tips?

I have the exact boat and I need to do the same this spring. How did you pull off the decals and how much work did it take to get the oxidized areas to blend with the gelcoat under the decals??

          Thanks
          Brett
