    Leaking ballast Tanks

    I have a 1999 Pro Air Ski Natique with ballast tanks. Both tanks are leaking at various seams (90 degree bends) in the tanks. I have the following questions:

    1. To remove the tanks it looks like the gas tank has to be removed in order to get the ballast tanks out. Is this correct?

    2. Does anyone know if these tanks can be repaired or do they have to be replaced?

    3. If they must be replaced any idea how much they cost and how long it takes to get them - ballpark guess?

    4. If they are spendy, would it be better to just remove them and opt for a fat sack?

    Any help on the above is greatly appreciated.

    I am not exactly sure how these are mounted in the boat, so I am not much help there.
    However, my vote is remove it and plumb in sacs and a Jabsco, you will be a lot happier. And have a bunch of extra bilge pumps left over...

      In the 1999 pro air the tanks are molded to fit in the trunk behind the gas tank (back seat) and then run down the side of the back seat. Can you recommend a good online store that I can get the pump(s) and sac(s) that would be a best fit? Your help is greatly appreciated.

        I have read that you do need to remove the gas tank to pull out those tanks (something I will probably be doing next winter). That said, if yours are already toast, you might be able to cut them out without taking out the gas tank, but sharp tools around your gas tank is not the way I would spend a weekend.

          I have the back seat off and the gas tank is fully exposed. It looks pretty straight forward to remove it. Does anyone know if there are anything I need to be concerned about when disconnecting and removing the gas tank?

            You probaly wanna make sure there is no gas in there to start with..

              ^^ Ha ^^ most definitely.

              Can you just take a dremel type tool with a cutoff bit and cut the tanks out? Probably isn't too bad the just remove the tank either.
