Hard starting while warmed up

My '94 has a hard time starting while warm. I must raise the idle and put it in neutral and give it gas everytime I try to start it. With the high idle, I get yelled at in no wake zones. Is there a proper mixture to idle screw adjustment I can make. It is a new Holly carb on a 351 PCM engine.

Tiquer you have to adjust the carb for your engine, try this check your idle mixture screws they should be equal or close. I normally start at 1 1/2 turns out from seat and adjust from there. Adjusting the screws in leans out the motor adjusting out richens the mixture. I think you need to richen the mixture to fix the problem. You also may want to check your intake manifold torque on all the bolts, it should be 22 to 25 foot-pounds of torque.

I did that today and it helped. I have to try it in the water this Thursday. thanks for your help. Is the manifold torque a remedy for a vacuum leak?

Yes, usually the intake manifold loosens over time of heat and cold cycles. I like to check the torque while the engine is running to see if it changes how the engine runs.
