    303 on Fiberglass??

Has anyone used 303 on the fiberglass of your boat? If so, when and do you still wax??

    RE: 303 on Fiberglass??

I have a 2008 SANTE 230. I have used it on the hull, deck and vinyl on my boat since I bought it new last year. I spray it at the end of every weekend without fail and sometimes twice in a weekend. The boat looks great and I do not see the need for wax, as the product appears to protect the clear coat very well.

Nothing wrong with 303 but every weekend and twice a weekend is expensive and time consiuming. You might just wanna find something that lasts a little longer.

My bad, I did mean gel coat, thanks for pointing that out.

After a weekend of use the boat has minor evidence of water spots (black bottom) which are very easily cleaned with a microfiber towel and no 303, but I figure I am already cleaning the boat before leaving for the weekend, might as well spray some 303.

Cleaning the boat on the lift with 303 this often is not necessary I am sure, but I find it quite therapeutic.

            A few of noteworthy items:
            1. Maintaining the boat every weekend we use it (which is probably <20 weekends per year) does not use as much 303 as you might think, and it probably takes me ~15 (often quiet and alone) minutes.
            2. You can buy a gallon of 303 for <$60 on ebay, which is more than I will need for this boat (in/out) for one year.
            3. I have seen no evidence of residue buildup, but I have only done this since July of 2008 when I got the boat.

I wonder how 303 would behave ON TOP of a carnuba based wax? I will have to try this out one of these weekends...

            Cheers!

I tried 303 on the gel once for a "quick shine"... what a mistake! First of all, it looked like ****- very streaky. It also washed off the moment I put the boat in the water. Waste of time and money, in my opinion- save it for the vinyl.

Apply Fleetwax to your boat. Most Nautique parts counters have it or West Marine. It was originally made for airplanes since they sit on the tarmac in the sun all day every day. It is thick and tuffer than most waxes to wipe off once applied, but it is the best boat wax I have ever used in twenty some years. Lasts a long time between apps.

                I use the paste. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...key=SiteSearch

Save the 303 for the interior. My .02. 8-)

I put some Zaino AIO on my boat a month ago. It should last longer than regular wax.

I've never put it on anything other than my boat, but I have thought about it.

I will go out on a limb and say that Collinite is the best I have used compared so alot of the major brands such as 3m, meguiares, etc. Remember that the shine comes from polish, water beading comes from wax.
