whineing noise towards the rear of a Gt-40 V-Drive

I have a 02 SANTE with the gt-40. The motor was rebuilt becuase of freeze damage and then went to auction where I bought it.
Around 1640 RPM, I get a loud anoying whineing sound from the area of the alternator, fresh water pump, front of the motor. It is only audible when you accelerate and then again when you slow down. It goes away at lower speeds and at higher speeds. It is loud enough to disburb others in the boat.
Any ideas what it might be?

          Whineing noise located, Problem solved

Well after using a listening device, I located the noise coming up the drive shaft. When I went to replace the packing at the dealer, he asked if the cutting edge on the prop was rounded over or was it sharp. The Dealer said a rounded edge will cause a whistle at certain RPM. I said I had just had the prop tuned and I would check. The leading edge was rounded over, so I took it back to the prop shop and asked for it to be sharpened. The prop guy looked at me funny and asked me to call him back if the whistle went away.
I installed the prop back on the shaft and the whistle noise is gone. The leading edge on your prop should be flat so it causes a sharpe edge not a rounded over edge.

Now if i can solve my idle problem all will be good.
